Was Jesus Sick?

Jesus was
born in a manger around 2- 7 BC. This was before AD, however AD
didn't come until later. Jesus was born someone special - wandering
men brought him find gifts, and there were stars in the sky who
helped others to find Mary in the manger with Jesus.
Jesus grew
up someone kind of depressed. When his step-father Joseph moved away
from him and Mary, Jesus was said to have been distraught. He felt
bad for having had been left with no father figure, and he often
cried.
It is not
known how others saw Jesus during the early years. It seems Jesus
may have been secluded - however some say he was given a good
upbringing with a decent education. Some even said that Jesus moved
to India for a short while in order to educate himself. This meant
that he was fairly intelligent and sought education - even if only
on a religious scale.
When Jesus
grew up he turned himself into a carpenter. He worked his own
business as he lived with his mother Mary. Apparently Jesus was a
poor person, and he lived in a mud brick home rather then a palace.
Some said that he may have even tried to support his house with wood
extensions in an attempt to refine the foundation of his home.
However this was only a poor attempt.
Being poor
meant that Jesus had little money. When the Government wanted taxes
he could never pay. His business failed, and more then that his
health failed.
Jesus was
sure that he had some kind of disease however none could tell him
what he had. He looked well and strong, however Jesus took the time
to let the world know that he was ill and dying. It may have been
this sickness that made him quit his low-income business and walk to
talk about God. What other kind of objective would a dying man have
wished for?
Signs that
Jesus felt as though he were sick were evident in the way he drank.
Most people say Jesus was a drunk, however it is possible that Jesus
tried to cleanse himself with wine. Think about it - wine is
supposed to have an anti-bacterial effect, and when Jesus drank it he
felt as though he may have been able to get over his sickness.
However he never did.
When Jesus
had enough of feeling sick he told his mother he wanted to walk. It
is possible that his mother tried to give him some herbal medicine to
cure Jesus of his ails - herbal tonics were used widely during the
time by wandering herbalists who cured people of plague, so perhaps
Mary tried to cure Jesus with a little bit of bitter herbal medicine.
However this would have made Jesus rage as he formed boils on his
tongue in allergic reaction to the herbal medicine - he was not the
kind of person whose physical body took kindly to medicine, and so he
would have pulled away from herbal tonics and moved on to the
strength of faith.
During his
wanderings Jesus spoke of death and feeling frail. He constantly
told people to be strong as they walked among the other kind of man.
Jesus spoke of sickness, head-spins, the spirit inside - this kind
of talk exposes that he was hot on the rocket about feeling ill, and
he spoke freely to all walks of life.
When Jesus
was asked to perform tricks it may have been that he was deluded.
Magicians have a history of being high and deluded when they come up
with the worlds most amazing tricks, and so Jesus may have also been
deluded. However when he could do magic the world looked at him in a
different light, and people gathered to meet Jesus as he performed
tricks.
Jesus
seemed to grow up a little when he realised he had a gift. He grew
in confidence and for the fist time he talked about anything but
death and human frailty. He grew hope and when people sat and talked
with him they gave him all of their attention as he told them his
ideals and thoughts.
Jesus met
rich and poor men, and some gave him a place to stay. Jesus grew a
likeness for this generosity, and before he knew it he grew on the
idea that he might be able to be given a new kind of life.
When Jesus
was in court being trialled he showed the men of the clergy, who he
perceived as being men of faith, a range of tricks which included
turning water into gold. In his mind Jesus figured that he could be
one of them if he showed them his skills in magic. However he was
not shown any smiles - instead he was sentenced to death.
Jesus was
beaten and put into a cell. In his last days he ate bread and wine
and told his jail in-mates his depression. 'Eat the bread and eat my
flesh, drink the wine and drink my blood;' he said. The meal was
consumed and by the end all were left without hunger.
It is true
that Jesus died of blood-loss, shock, and external/internal injuries
- however let us not forget that before he went on his journey he
also felt ill. Was he sick? No one could say; he was supposed to
have very white skin, and most people who were white were prone to
sickness and disease. Was Jesus ever sick? Most would have said
'no', but perhaps he did have allergies from drinking wine and eating
wheat, and perhaps he did not do enough exercise which may have also
made him feel faint, lethargic, and depressed.
Jesus
could have been a little sick if he was allergic to what he ate, and
he could have felt sick inside of his brain because he may not have
done enough exercise. Was walking away from home to wander through
cities on a pilgrimage the right reaction to an allergy reaction or
lack of exercise? Most would say no - however that is what Jesus
seemed to have done, and he told the world of how he felt until he
was ready to meet a new world which distracted him from his woes and
opened up Jesus's interest and developed his ideals. Jesus gave
himself a new education which turned him into a prophet and a
teacher. Jesus developed himself, and if it were not for religious
law he would have perhaps reached a more comfortable life. However
his faith was inaccurate and went against the law of the time, and so
he was sentenced to treachery and he recalled how ill he could feel
as he died as a criminal on the cross.
