The Stench Of Perfume

May wanted out of her relationship with Greg; she didn't want to be with him any longer. He had returned home too late at night for the past three months and every time he stank of women’s perfume. He wasn't a straight male, he was something else on the side, and she grew embarrassed that she would have fallen for the likes of him. He seemed like the wrong person who performed in the wrong part time job; she didn't like him.

“Where have you been?” asked May as she crossed her arms in front of Greg.

“Out;” told Greg as he walked forward to kiss May.

“That sounds like another job;” hinted May as she shook her head.

“It's just fun and pleasure;” told Greg before he stopped.

May looked to Greg and shook her head some more. She wanted to shake her ideas off her brain, however she couldn't go that far. May wanted nothing more then to just turn away from Greg, and she did with a shoulder.

“Why are you like this?” told Greg as he watched May as she turned away. “Don't be like this, it separates us;” he added.

“You smell like perfume!” gasped May as she began to feel her breath quicken with the heart inside of her chest. “You smell! I smell you!” she added.

“I buy perfume to make me more attractive;” told Greg before he took out a small vial of spray. “It works in business;” he added.

“You smell like a woman!” gasped May before she took the perfume bottle and opened it. “See? This one is sharp!” she declared.

“It's one of my samples;” told Greg as he watched May as she sniffed.

“Well this one is better, wear this one;” told May before she sprayed cologne on Greg's outfit.

Greg rolled his eyes as the scent wafted around his brain. He knew he had brought the cologne, however he didn't want to spray it on as he wore the other one. He liked the sweet scent of lightweight flowers, it reminded him of his mother and he didn't want to tell May that because it was a personal thought which he didn't want to share. He didn't want to offer May the world of his entire brain, he only wanted her to calm down, and she didn't calm down until she had layered his whole jacket in a thick coating of sharp scented cologne. The potion made Greg dizzy.

“I feel sick;” he muttered as he glared at May as she placed the spray bottle down onto the nearby bench. “I feel sick!” he declared. “You've put too much on!” he warred.

“You smell like a man now;” told May as she smiled.

Greg took in a breath and felt his mind whirl. He didn't like too much spray - he kept the sharp for the areas which needed the most protection from body odour, like his armpits, his underwear, his neck, his feet; he didn't wear it on his torso where he usually sprayed the more lightweight spray - too much sharp spray made him sick.

“I'm going to have to wash my clothes now!” gasped Greg as he took off his jacket. “Don't you ever spray me again - you are a rude, stupid, woman!” he added before he stormed to the laundry to do some washing.

May felt tears well under her eyes and she blinked to make them go away. May didn't feel like being nice, she didn't even like the spray it just didn't smell like flowers that was why she had cheered.

“I just wanted you to smell normal;” she muttered as she played with her fingers. “A normal person doesn't wear so much floral spray;” she added.

May walked to the front door and she moved outside. She looked at the dark, the green lawn, the blackened sky, and she saw a lot of still. She wanted to feel as calm, but the still made her feel ever more alone and she began to grow stifled.

“I wish Greg would just go away!” she gasped as she began to grow depressed.

May heard a shout from inside of the house; she knew Greg was mad and she didn't want to stop his rage. May began to walk down the street in her shoes with unkind thoughts on her mind and she didn't want to stop walking - not after ten minutes, not after one hour; she continued to walk through the night as the moon shone over her shoulders and she didn't want to stop until she was lost somewhere else.

Greg grew feisty as he looked at the time - he hadn't been aware May was able to take a walk for so long as the night passed over his shoulders. He tried to tell himself that she had gone to a friends house or for a stroll, however when the sun came up and she still was not home Greg began to grow angst. He wasn't sure what had happened to May, so he picked up the phone and make calls. He interrupted several beds in order to pursue the trail of his wife's footsteps, however no one knew where May was.

Greg picked up his car keys and began to drive. He drove for long hours but he was unable to find May. Finally Greg gave up and returned home; he would wait another few days for May to show up, but if she didn't show he would tell the cops that she had gone missing.

“Did you leave because of the scent I wear?” asked Greg as he began to grow raged. “That's dumb May!” he declared as he felt thunder inside of his head and heart. “That's dumb!” he added before he sat down. “You are a stupid woman!” he declared as he narrowed his eyes. “Stupid!” he spat before he began to wait for time to pass.
