Asha glared out the window - it was night and the night had brought the roaches out from their den; she could see them walk up and down the street, normal people who seemed a little queer. Asha thought it was queer to want to walk the street at night, she thought the people outside abnormal however at least they were not the kind to try and break into a house.

“What is the matter with the world?” she asked as she caught sight of a person who walked with a kite in one hand. “Why are people wandering around like it is day?” she asked.

Asha shrugged and then she closed the curtains - she didn't want to see the people in the world walk to and fro, she needed to get to bed. However her bed was not comfortable enough to hold her interest and so Asha put on a jacket and walked outside to see the queer people.

Asha lingered on the front porch and she watched as people walked back and forth as though in a trance. Some were dressed in good clothes, others normal clothes; Asha glared and she shrugged - the world was awake and it was 2.00am.

“Is there a party?” asked Asha to one of the walkers who stopped suddenly to look in her direction.

Asha fell afraid as the person narrowed their eyes and continued to stare. She shrunk inside the house and closed the front door as her heartbeat raced inside of her chest like an organ on high run. Asha crumbled and raced to her parents room to tell them that someone queer had looked at her - they were not there, and Asha grew afraid.

Asha raced to the phone and dialled her parents mobile - no one picked up and Asha crumbled as the door-bell rang. Asha whimpered to herself as she felt her heartbeat race - she didn't want to answer the door, but then the doorbell chimed in a way that made her want to scream.

“I will not be afraid!” she gasped as she moved towards the front door.

However Asha was afraid, very afraid; she felt cold sweat on her spine as her fingers touched the door knob to release the lock. The door knob shook as someone tried to open the door, and Asha screamed as the lights turned off. Asha swept herself to the living room and hid behind a couch, there she shivered as she pleaded for her parents to return home.

“Please come home!” gasped Asha as she felt fear through her bone and marrow. “Please come home!” she added as a thump was heard on the door. “I didn't mean to say anything stupid!” she gasped as she felt hot fear on her tongue as her skin shivered with harsh tremble. “They just looked so stupid walking by I decided to ask them why?” she muttered before several kicks were issued against the door.

Asha sobbed as the sound reverberated through her ears; she covered them for a moment as she wished she had headphones to feed herself music and block out the sound; however she had nothing but her hands and they did nothing to calm her as she heard one harsh beat after another - it sounded like the person had turned animal and Asha winced as tears rolled down her face.

The thumps stopped and for a moment Asha breathed out a sigh of relief. She felt the world turn sombre and she felt normal once again - however it was anything but normal and soon a person raced for the front door and sailed through it as though it were not there. Asha gasped as a shout alarmed her - someone had broken inside and they hadn't broken anything to get inside!

Asha whimpered as she clung to the couch and stayed hidden in its shadow as feet walked through the house - soon things began to get thrown around and Asha gasped as her nerves stood on edge; she wanted to race for the front door, however her body couldn't move - she had turned rock still and she could only cry endless tears as scared filled her from toe to brain.

Feet entered the living room and Asha shivered as eyes looked towards the couch she shivered behind. An ice cold laugh was heard, and then the feet raced for the couch - Asha slipped underneath the ruler gap just in time before a head shot around the back of the couch; the person who had stalked her laughed and then he stepped away.

“I know you are in here!” he gasped. “I know you are here!” he shouted. “Come out, come out!” he barked as he looked around the space. “Wherever you are;” he added before he raced to the lounge and kicked it through the living room wall as though it were a soccer ball.

The couch toppled onto the front lawn and crushed the flowers. Asha screamed as she saw the figure who had followed her inside - his eyes were bright, his teeth was bright, and his skin was ice-cold white. He looked fierce, cold, and Asha trembled as her eyes drank him into her brain.

“Get out!” she screamed.

“You look like a lamb who has lost their way!” told the intruder. “I am the wolf!” he gasped before he lunched forward in a haunting manner that left a shadow arched high over his body like a tidal wave.

The door burst opened and the intruder raced through the window like there were none. Asha wanted to sigh out her relief, however she screamed instead as another intruder walked into the house with a very long gun.

“I was just hunting for a drifter!” gasped the intruder before they left.

Asha gasped and sobbed! She covered her eyes as she trembled through her skin, and she didn't stop until her parents walked in through the front door with concern on their eye-lids.

“Where have you been?” gasped Asha as she looked to her parents who seem surreal with their bright eyes and white skin.

“We were getting to know the walkers;” told her father Tom. “They didn't like us so we went to the store;” he added before he looked left as though distracted.

“Don't worry!” gasped her mother Sue. “These people are only staying this way for a little while;” she added.

“They can walk through the walls!” gasped Asha as she felt ice cold on her tongue.

“I can see how that might be a new intrusion;” told Tom before he offered Asha a hug.

The hug felt wrong and Asha - it was cold, stiff, rigid; however Asha took it and felt no warmer as she sobbed inside of her head until she grew dizzy and blacked out.

Asha lived inside a black hole inside of her mind for three days before a doctor offered a drug to get her out of coma. When Asha woke there were no more drifters on the street, the world was normal, and she was able to relax; no longer would people walk around at night, no longer would the streets be full at 2.00am; the world was normal and safe, and Asha could feel comfortable as she tucked herself into bed at night, she could feel safe from the abnormal and never feel scared again.
