Who Is Emanuel?
South America
Emanuel sits around a house
he never knew, but which he is getting to know. His first
introduction to his family has not been a success - he has been seen
as the foreigner, and he wishes he had stayed in Australia. However
he has been urged to return to South America due to a patch of mental
amnesia - he had been told by Australians to go home and be reminded
of where he had come from - and so he has come home and nobody has
yet enjoyed his company; Emanuel sighs.
“What good is being home
when nobody remembers me?” he asks as he glares at the green grass
that is soft and dewy, almost mossy. “I would have been better off
not returning;” he declares.
However in his heart he
knows that he had been told to return so that he would not forget
about where he had come from - he had been through a rough trek on a
wild ride of stardom in Australia, and at its end he had been told
not to go home. Yes he had been a hit, but he was also a foreigner
who had not yet claimed residency in Australia, and so he was sent
back home to South American and told to remember.
“Remember; remember;”
declares Emanuel as he sighs. “I don't remember;” he adds. “I
don't even remember what I did;” he mutters. “Oh well, keep
forgetting;” he declares before he pops a pill inside of his mouth
until his face swells up in an abnormal way.
Emanuel's mother Abulita
comes out of the house and gasps as she sees Emanuel.
“Oh my goodness Emanuel,
what has happened to you?” she asks.
“Nothing;” tells
Emanuel as he shrugs.
“You have changed!”
gasps Abulita as she begins to grow devil eyes. “We had better
take you to he medical centre!” she declares.
“Okay;” mutters Emanuel
as he grins a wry grin as he is led away.
At the local medical centre
Abulita tries to make Emanuel a concoction to take his devil spirit
away. Emanuel glares at Abulita as he smiles a vacant smile, and
then looks to the assistant who happens to linger even though it is
past her working hours. Abulita mixes some chemicals and then she
helps to pour the concoction into Emanuel's mouth. Emanuel drinks
all, and then he smiles - he knows he is being drugged, but he
doesn't know why; according to traditional standards he is supposed
to do drugs and so he sits and drinks as Abulita tries one thing
after another to try and get his looks as they were.
“I think you've given the
kid enough;” tells the assistant Venessa. “Best you leave him
alone for an hour;” she declares.
“Okay I will take a nap!”
gasps Abulita. “Then when I come back you are to take some more
potion!” she tells before she races away.
Venessa glares at Emanuel
and smiles - she knows he has screwed up his original looks but he
finally looks good and she can only wish to flirt as she glares at
him in a secretive manner. Venessa sees Emanuel sweat and she knows
that he may be battling with his insides, but with him looking so
calm she sees opportunity, and with that comes an idea.
“Do you want to do a
movie?” asks Venessa as she glares at Emanuel.
“Sure!” he cheers as he
feels another bead of sweat dribble down his face.
“But you might have a
stroke;” tells Venessa as she sighs. “You probably shouldn't
try;” she adds.
“I don't mind trying;”
tells Emanuel as he grins. “I almost lost my life in Australia;”
he adds.
“Then you won't mind
losing it again?” asks Venessa.
“If it comes to that;”
tells Emanuel as he smiles.
“Okay, then let's do a
movie!” she cries out before she takes Emanuel's arm and walks him
out of the medical centre.
Vanessa shows Emanuel to a
movie studio and together they begin to act a silly play-role that is
completely improvised. The flirtation is easy and together they live
on-screen as a cool Hollywood duo. Emanuel is shown the world of
fame as lights twinkle before his eyes - it is an easy role to play,
and his mind and tongue combine to make him a good improvisational
act.
“I just have to tell him a
line and poof he does it!” exclaims Vanessa to the director as he
tries to flirt her into going out with him. “He can remember
everything!” she adds before she looks at the vacant studio and
begins to smile.
Emanuel is going through
wardrobe and make-up so that they can shoot another scene. Vanessa
smiles, but then a shout is heard.
“He's had a heart attack!”
gasps the studio hand.
“Great!” cheers
Vanessa.
“Great?” asks the
director.
“He was on a demon high
and it altered his looks, he'll be able to look normal now!” sings
Vanessa before she moves to see Emanuel out the backstage door.
Emanuel rolls his eyes as he
sits on the porch. He knows he has had a near heart attack, but he
feels so crashed he couldn't care.
“Did I have a heart
attack?” he asks as he glares at Abulita who comes outside to take
a look at him.
“I don't know, you walked
when you should have sat and waited for more potion!” she gasps.
“Look at you!” she sighs. “You won't be able to work if you
don't settle that heart murmur!” she adds.
“I don't really feel a
heart murmur;” declares Emanuel as he touches his body a little.
“I feel good;” he adds. “Despite being hung over;” he
mutters as he reminds himself that he has been facially corroded from
the potion he has swallowed.
“You look old, like an old
man!” gasps Abulita as she narrows her eyes. “You look like a
rat - no-one will be able to look at you now!” she tells. “You
look native;” she adds. “Old and retarded;” she complains.
“Well don't put me on a
drug!” complains Emanuel as he sighs.
“You needed it, you had a
demon on your face!” declares Abulita.
“I had no demon!” gasps
Emanuel. “It was just me, and you told me to drink that potion!”
he adds.
“Then you were stupid!”
tells Abulita. “You should have told me it was just you;” she
says. “You looked different;” she adds. “Now don't look
different again!” she scolds before she strides back into the
house.
Emanuel sighs. He knows
that he had been led into a trap but he doesn't want to care - he
had been trying to get along with his family, and they treated him to
new experiences as he tried to remember them with clarity.
“I remember nothing;”
he adds before he hangs his head.
Emanuel Kicked Out Of Home
Emanuel marches through the
forest to get to college. Abulita has told him he will go to school,
and so with a book in hand he marches towards the college in order to
learn. He marches through thick undergrowth and then he enters the
school from the forest. He is seen by the students and as soon as he
marches towards the school he is stopped by a gang of them.
“Who are you?” they ask.
“I am Emanuel;” he
declares.
“Why are you walking
through the forest?” they ask.
“I have come from my
home;” tells Emanuel. “I live in the forest;” he says.
“We've never seen you;”
they declare. “Tell us more about you!” they invite.
“Okay;” tells Emanuel.
Emanuel sits in a prison
cell and rolls his eyes - first day of college led him to a protest
and he was picked up by the police. The prison security guard smiles
as he glares at Emanuel with a key in his left hand.
“Hello there;” tells
the guard named Juan. “It seems you have been arrested;” he
smiles before he laughs. “You are Emanuel?” he asks.
“Yes I am Emanuel;”
tells Emanuel. “I come from my home in the forest;” he
declares.
“You live in the forest do
you?” asks Juan. “I live in the forest too;” he adds.
“You do not!” declares
Emanuel.
“How do you know?” asks
Juan.
“There is only one or two
houses in the forest, and I live in one of them!” he says. “I've
never seen you there;” he adds.
“Then you are correct;”
tells Juan before he walks to the cell with his keys. “You may go
home, I believe you are Emanuel;” he adds.
“I can go home?” asks
Emanuel.
“Yes you can go home;”
tells Juan. “There is an imposter in this forest and I have
discovered it is not you;” he adds. “Just don't you go to
college again without applying, otherwise you shall never leave
without a permanent record or jail sentence;” he adds.
“I see;” tells Emanuel
as he nods. “Well at least I can go home!” he cheers.
Emanuel returns home and
there he meets Abulita and his father Vincent. Vincent shouts that
Emanuel needs to leave for his real son has been arrested, Abulita
protests that he is her real son and she tells Vincent that she will
leave as well. Together they both leave and escape an angry
household. There is much confusion, but Abulita tells whoever asks
that she will not readily abandon her son as she swears that he is
hers.
Time passes and apart from
living in a brick hut with no lights or appliances Emanuel has a cosy
life. He doesn't need to do anything, or go anywhere; he just needs
to sit as people walk around him. However the sitting life is boring
and Emanuel tries to prostitute himself for money, but he is caught
by people who know he is on the line of being a false son, and he is
readily escorted home after being robbed of hard, well-earned, money.
“I need to get away from
this place;” tells Emanuel as he glares at Abulita as she busies
herself in the kitchen of their mud-brick home.
She is sick of the place,
and Emanuel is sick of the place. Abulita blames her stubborn pride
and she tells herself to make Emanuel go away.
“If there is somewhere you
wish to be don't let me stop you;” tells Abulita as she looks to
Emanuel from the kitchen.
“I want to leave but I
need my birth certificate;” tells Emanuel as he narrows his eyes.
Abulita sighs and then she
collects his birth certificate and hands it to him.
“I need money;” tells
Emanuel.
Abulita nods and then she
takes out a wad of saved money and hands it to Emanuel.
“That's all I have;”
she declares.
“That's all he'll need!”
cheers a nosy neighbour named Dianne who has said hello to Emanuel
for days.
Emanuel smiles and then he
waves to Abulita before he is led away by a friendly hand.
“Give me your money!”
cheers Dianne after they have walked a few blocks.
Emanuel shivers.
“Are you going to rob me?”
he asks.
“No!” gasps Dianne. “I
am going to help you!” she adds. “I have inside connections, I
can get you to where you want to go;” she declares.
“You know where I want to
go?” asks Emanuel as he feels a rush inside of his chest.
“Yes I know! You want to
go to Australia!” she tells. “I've been hearing you mutter
about it while you sit outside!” she adds. “I know just how to
get you in as well;” she declares. “Follow me, I'll get you to
Australia;” she smiles.
“Then you have my money!”
tells Emanuel before he gives Dianne the money he holds and rushes
off with her.
Emanuel and Dianne stay in a
hotel, by morning he finds himself alone. Emanuel sighs and shakes
his head - he has been robbed, and he feels like a fool.
“What am I going to do?”
he asks. “Return to Abulita?” he sighs. “To the poor
world?” he asks. “With nothing but a brick house?” he asks.
Wind whistles inside of
Emanuel's brain and he decides he had better return home before it is
too late.
However at the mud-brick
home he is told that Abulita has returned to the farm-house.
“Being alone almost broke
her heart;” tells a neighbour.
Emanuel nods and returns to
the farm, but at the gate he is stopped by a person with a gun.
“No entry!” they say.
“The son has returned;” they declare. “You father has died;”
they add.
“What about Abulita?”
asks Emanuel.
“She is getting to know
her son;” tells the person before he urges Emanuel to go away.
“You are not allowed back here;” he declares.
Emanuel sighs. He then
walks away with lost inside of his soul. He doesn't know what to do,
but he does what any man in his position would do, he walks into town
to try and prostitute for money. However it isn't easy - the people
know he is a foreigner and he is almost offered nothing until a kind
person asks him inside of a car for an interview. Inside of the car
Emanuel is given a drug and he forgets the world for a while. When
he wakes up he is told to run away.
“Here I got you some
money!” tells the woman who had invited him inside of the car.
“Go! Travel! Flee!” she gasps.
“Don't come back!”
someone else declares.
Emanuel smiles, waves, and
walks away.
“Thank-you!” he cheers
before he leaves to go to the airport.
Emanuel In Australia
Emanuel moves to Australia
and he applies for citizenship. He needs to work as he waits, and he
manages to score himself one job after another. Emanuel learns how
to cook, and then he is asked into a government office and escorted
through an interview. After a quick interview he is given
citizenship, and he leaves the office an accredited Australian.
Emanuel meets Dianne who
glares at him with a frown as she looks at him in the cafeteria where
he works.
“What are you doing here?
Why are you working? Shouldn't you be going home?” she asks.
“I don't want to talk to
you;” tells Emanuel as he growls inside of his chest. “You
stole my money and I struggled for my life to get out of South
America!” he gasps.
“You struggled for your
life?” asks Dianne as she narrows her eyes. “What did you do?
Take a pill?” she asks.
“Yes I took a pill!”
tells Emanuel as he nods.
“I was threatened to the
death!” gasps Dianne. “I was told I should die after being
called a witch!” she adds. “Then my father got arrested;”
she declares.
“You said you didn't have
a father;” tells Emanuel as he stops Dianne in mid-sentence.
“I was adopted;” tells
Dianne as she leans on the counter. “My adopted father was
arrested;” she declares before she blinks. “But I got away;”
she adds. “I won, I am the survivor;” she tells.
“You sound like a
jail-bird;” tells Emanuel.
“So?” asks Dianne.
“What would that mean to you?” she asks.
“Nothing;” tells
Emanuel as he shrugs. “Now leave me alone I need to cook;” he
adds.
“You cook like shit!”
tells Dianne as she smiles.
Emanuel rolls his eyes as he
grows mad - he wants to spit, but he holds his anger in.
“They are going to make
minced meat of you here;” tells Dianne as she grins. “You should
go home;” she adds. “If they catch you living here as an
illegal citizen;” she mutters in a red-hot tone;
“They will not catch me!”
gasps Emanuel. “I got citizenship;” he says.
“Does that mean we can
date?” asks Dianne as she grins.
“I don't know;” mutters
Emanuel as he shrugs. “Why, do you want to date me?” he asks.
“I don't know;” tells
Dianne as she shrugs. “Maybe;” she adds. “Either you or
someone else;” she mutters. “I am never really in love so its
hard to tell;”
“Okay;” shrugs Emanuel.
“I will date you;” he adds.
“Take me out! Treat me to
dinner!” tells Dianne.
“How about you sit I can
cook you dinner;” tells Emanuel.
“Cook me eggs!” gasps
Dianne as she smiles.
“Okay;” mutters Emanuel
before he turns to the grill and begins to cook.
“Make it special! Cook
for me!” gasps Dianne before she moves to take a seat.
Dianne grows bored of
looking at Emanuel cook and she leaves before her meal ha been made.
She knows she needs to do something interesting with someone
interesting, and she tells herself that she will return the next day
for her meal of eggs. When Emanuel finds out about Dianne's absence
he shrugs and gives the meal to someone else - he suddenly feels
alone, and he decides to move to somewhere else where he can get a
job other then a grill hand cook.
Emanuel In Melbourne
Months pass and Emanuel is
discovered by Dianne in his city-home. He looks pretty good to her
and she invites him to a model interview. They both get hired, but
after a bout of drugs and rough confrontation they fumble through
their work until they are both fired. They wake up from memory loss
and move their different ways - Dianne is urged into the mental
institution, and Emanuel is told to go home.
Emanuel retires to the
country in NSW and there he cooks a little more. Months later Dianne
walks into the cafe where he works and she looks to him as she waits
for him to see her.
“Hello;” greets Emanuel
as he turns his head and sees Dianne.
“Hi!” gasps Dianne. “I
crashed in my work, I went to the mental institution, they filled me
up with drugs;” she told.
“That's good;” tells
Emanuel as he feels a little distanced at Dianne's confrontational
attitude which seeps through her open pores.
“Do you want to go out
with me?” asks Dianne.
“I don't know;” tells
Emanuel before a waitress warns him that Dianne has been found to be
crazy and not to date her. “No;” he mutters.
“Why not?” asks Dianne.
“I can't;” he declares.
“You've been to the mental institution;” he adds.
“So?” asks Dianne. “I
am who I was before!” she steams.
“I can't!” gasps
Emanuel.
“Come on, try me!”
hisses Dianne. “Try me!” she rages before she slaps her hand
onto the customer service bench.
“Don't date this one!”
warns the waitress as she stands near Emanuel.
“I don't want to date
you;” tells Emanuel as he felt his heartbeat.
“Fine!” gasps Dianne
before she backs out of the cafe. “I'll date someone else!” she
declares before she leaves.
However Dianne does not find
a suitable date and by morning she applies for a kitchen hand job at
the same cafe and gets it.
“Hello;” whispers
Dianne into Emanuel's ear as he enters the cafe. “How are you?”
she asks.
“Fine;” tells Emanuel
who shrugs.
“I dated someone else! I
was beaten up!” tells Dianne as she glares at Emanuel with a sharp
stare. “Will you date me now?” she asks.
“Is this woman supposed to
be working here?” gasps Emanuel as he looks to the manager.
“Yes, I hired her!” the
manager cheers.
Emanuel narrows his eyes and
then turns to Dianne.
“Well you are no longer
crazy if you work here;” he mutters as he blinks.
“Why are you being such a
loser?” asks Dianne as she narrows her eyes. “You've been
working as a slave for too long!” she gasps. “Let's go and do
something interesting! Let's break into a movie studio!” she
gasps.
“Okay;” mutters Emanuel
before he shrugs. “After work;” he adds.
“I can't wait that long!”
tells Dianne. “I'll see you later!” she grins before she
leaves.
“Don't come back!”
tells the manager.
“I won't!” sings Dianne
before she departs.
The Second Emanuel In
North America
Emanuel has spent years
trying to get a break in the hard life of North America. He has been
sent to a government office and given a drug. The drug has sent him
spiralling off his head and he feels as though he might lose his life
at any second.
“I have been wasting my
life!” he declares as he rubs his cold face. “I might need to
get home;” he adds.
“Do you have a home?”
asks his room-mate Anne. “I thought you were American;” she
adds.
“No I am from South
America;” tells Emanuel as he smiles.
“You should be American -
you're smart, you're good!” she declares before she gives him a
thumbs up.
Emanuel returns the thumbs
up and then he sighs.
“I haven't been home for
twenty years;” he declares.
“Well if you need to go,
you should go;” tells Anne. “If that's where you live;” she
adds.
“That's where I lived;”
tells Emanuel as he sighs. “I should go back;” he adds in
drawl.
“Well if you need to you
should;” tells Anne as she shrugs. “I can get another renter;”
she adds. “Another roomy;”
“That will be good;”
tells Emanuel as he sighs. “I've been here too long;” he
declares.
“That's strange I thought
you were American;” tells Anne before she shrugs.
“Nope;” mutters Emanuel
before the phone rings.
Emanuel answers the phone
and he is greeted by his model agent. She has finally found him work
and Emanuel cheers. He writes down the details of where he needs to
go and puts down the phone.
“I have work!” he
declares. “I am going to be in a movie!” he cheers.
“That's great!” gasps
Anne as she smiles. “Don't forget about me when you act!” she
adds.
“I won't!” tells
Emanuel before he leans back. “I am going to be great!”
However Emanuel is only
harassed by a gang of loud-mouthed people who have teamed to make his
acting experience a hard one filled with all the violence a
loud-mouthed acting team can muster. They tease him as he acts and
he grows depressed - he can't feel happy, and by the end he decides
it is best if he returns home.
However Emanuel decides that
home is boring and so he takes himself to Australia for a holiday.
There he grabs wind of the media world as he is escorted to his new
home where his wife waits for him. Emanuel can't believe how many
people want to give him a home, and he smiles as he is offered a good
home with wife, kids, everything he could wish for. He is
interviewed by a media team and he tells them his life.
“You should do a movie!”
gasps one of the members. “You should come with us!” they say.
So Emanuel aborts marriage
life and is escorted to another city where he experiences the drug
zone of Australian cinema that almost ends his life as he knows it.
Emanuel wakes up from a hang over, and ill he decides to make his bed
in a spare room that is un-rented - he falls asleep and into coma,
and there he disappears from the world.
Two Emanuels?
Emanuel walks out of the
cafeteria. He has been married to Dianne for four years and he feels
red-hot over the fact that there has been someone else playing
Dianne's husband and who had been caught in his house, with his kids,
and used his alcohol to get drunk.
“We'll see who is
Emanuel!” he declares before he returns home.
At his home Emanuel finds a
quiet house - he cannot yell, he cannot get drunk, he cannot see his
kids who sit quietly inside of their play room after Dianne has
vacated the house due to an emergency call that has left her a window
in the eyes of the media team who claim they have accidentally killed
her husband. Emanuel leaves the house to buy more alcohol, and he
doesn't come back until after dark; by then Dianne has returned and
begun to cook, and Emanuel walks up to his presence in order to say
hello.
“Hello;” he smiles.
“Hi!” gasps Dianne as
she turns around with startle on her mind. “You're not dead!”
she gasps.
“No;” tells Emanuel as
he smiles.
“They said you were dead!”
she declares.
“Who?” asks Emanuel as
he looks at Dianne.
“I don't care!” sighs
Dianne as she washes her hands. “I need to leave to fix up
something!” she sighs. “They've got everybody all wrong!”
she adds before she picks up her purse and vacates the home.
Emanuel shrugs and sighs; he
too wishes the leave the home and so after placing the alcohol on the
table he leaves the home to go for a drive.
Emanuel Alone Again
Emanuel glares out the
window of his car as he drinks. He smiles at the night as he glares
at the sky - he has lost his wife, his kids, and he is sure to lose
his home; he can't get work all of a sudden, and so he drinks to
forget his woes. He does not know what will happen in the future,
but he knows he will have to borrow money from friends if he cannot
get any work. He cheers to the vacant night.
“Who cares?” he mutters
before he leans back in his car. “I am still cool, it's Dianne who
has everything wrong!” he adds. “Something about that afternoon
when she said I was dead changed her;” he tells. “Now I can't
see my kids, I can't get a job!” he scoffs. “All because of
crazy Dianne who can't believe that I am her husband;” he sighs.
“I am her Emanuel;” he adds before he laughs at the irony. “I
have bad luck!” he sighs. “This is just like at home where I
went to see my mum and I couldn't go past the gate;” he adds.
“There is something that makes the people go crazy, and I am left
alone at the end;” he sighs. “Who cares!” he gasps. “I
live here, I can also do what I like!” he adds before he starts
the car. “For now I will go home, but who knows what I will do
tomorrow;” he sings before he backs his car and returns home
alone.
